Add banners

After creating your campaign, open the Banners tab and click Add. A form for adding a banner opens.

Step 1. Choose the banner format, type, and template

  1. Under Format, select the appropriate banner format:

    • Display Advertising and Video Advertising are used for desktop placements.

Select a banner type group: Own or Predefined.

    • In-App display advertising and In-App video advertising are used for apps with the integrated Yandex Mobile Ads SDK.

    • The Turbo/AMP type is used for placement as Yandex Turbo pages or Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP).

    • Tracking pixel is used to collect statistics on banner impressions and clicks via third-party advertising systems or for the internal Adfox analytics.

  2. Choose a template for the banner type.

    Alert

In a campaign with the impression count methods Impression (IMS), Viewable Impression (IMS), and Viewable impression, Yandex (IMS), you can only add banners with templates that have “IMS”  in their names.

You can read more in Banner types and templates.

Step 2. Configure the general settings

Enter a banner name of your choice. If you leave this box empty, the banner is assigned a number.

Select a banner status:

  • active: The banner is ready to be displayed.
  • paused: The banner has been paused.
  • completed: The banner isn't displayed.

Disabled on new placements

By default, the option is enabled. After you create a banner, it isn't automatically shown on:

  • Newly-created placements within the site or section where the campaign is running.
  • Placements enabled in the campaign placement settings after the banner is created.
  • If you disable this option, the banner will be shown on all placements where the campaign is running.

Step 3. Define the banner content

This field has different parameters depending on the template. When configuring a banner, check the requirements for the type you selected.

When you install links to tracking pixels, we recommend that you use the %random% macro to randomize links.

Step 4. Specify delivery settings for impressions and clicks

Enter settings in the appropriate fields

Field

Description

Impressions

  • Total impressions: The maximum number of banner impressions. If the campaign has evenly distributed traffic, set the end date for impressions on this banner. When the number of impressions reaches the maximum, the banner status changes to Completed, and the banner is no longer served.
  • Impressions per day: The maximum number of impressions per day. When the number of impressions served since the beginning of the day reaches the maximum, no more impressions are served until the next day.
  • Impressions per hour: The maximum number of impressions per hour. When the number of impressions since the beginning of the hour reaches the maximum, no more impressions are served until the next hour.

Clicks

  • Total clicks: The maximum number of clicks on the banner. If the campaign has evenly distributed traffic, set the end date for impressions on this banner. When the number of clicks reaches the maximum, the banner status changes to Completed, and the banner is no longer served.
  • Clicks per day: The maximum number of clicks on the banner per day. When the number of clicks since the beginning of the day reaches the maximum, no more impressions are served until the next day.
  • Clicks per hour: The maximum number of clicks on the banner per hour. When the number of clicks since the beginning of the hour reaches the maximum, no more impressions are served until the next hour.

Banner display period

Date and time of when the banner starts and stops running. The default start date is the current date. If you don't change it, banners will start being served immediately after you add them.

Step 5. Configure the advertising menu and labeling

  1. Set up the banner menu:

    • In the Ad label list, choose Advertising or Social advertising to add the label to the banner. If the creative content design already contains a label, you can keep Disable in the drop-down list.
    • In the Domain field, enter the advertiser domain to add it to the label: Advertising | example.com or Social advertising | example.com (only if the label is enabled).
    • To display the advertiser information in the banner, enable the Show banner menu option. The banner menu is the icon. Clicking it will make the information about the advertiser appear. If the text is too long, it may be cropped and partially replaced with an ellipsis. Users can view and copy all the information by triple-clicking it.
  2. The labeling section is only available if you selected Submit data to state register as a marking procedure in the campaign settings. Follow the guide to fill in the fields in this section to register the creative with the Yandex advertising data operator. The creative is assigned a token automatically.

If you received a token from a third-party advertising data operator, provide it in the Third-party token field.

    Note

If the banner doesn't need to be added to the ad register, select Do not submit data to state register.

Scroll down to Placements and use the list to select a site, section, or placement for running your banner.

Note

For Booking campaigns, select placements where you want to serve ads. Adfox will automatically create banners for these placements, which you'll need to set up to switch your campaign to the Guarantee type. If you select an entire section, banners will be created for all placements within it.

If the Placements section is empty

Let's say you've added a placement for your banner. It has the right type, but you still can't see it under Placements. That could happen if your campaign isn't placed:

  • On the right site.
  • In the section where you added the placement.
  • Anywhere at all.

To fix this, set up the campaign placement first, and then go back to placing the banner.
