Import data from a Google account

If you have a Google account and syncing is enabled in Google Chrome, you can copy passwords, bookmarks, history, and other data from there. Yandex will securely store your data in accordance with the privacy policy. You can copy data multiple times, and it will simply merge without creating duplicates.

  1. Tap  → Settings.

  2. In the General section, click Copy data from Google.

  3. Select the data you want to copy:

    • Website passwords;
    • Autofill data;
    • Bookmarks;
    • History.
  4. Click Log in to Google and copy to open the authorization page.

  5. Sign in to Google.

    Note

    You may need to reauthorize or confirm your login during copying (follow Google’s instructions).

After that, data copying will begin.

  • During copying:

    • do not close Yandex Browser until copying is complete (it may take a few minutes);
    • you can continue using Yandex Browser during this time. Copying will proceed in the background;
    • throughout this time, the button at the bottom right will appear as .
  • If copying is successful:

    • you will receive the “Your data was copied from Google” message;
    • the button at the bottom right will appear as ;
  • If copying is unsuccessful:

    • you will receive the “Couldn’t copy your data from Google” message;
    • the button at the bottom right will appear as ;
    • you can try to copy the data again.

    Alert

    You will not be able to import data from Google Chrome if you’ve enabled data encryption in it.

Importing data from another browser via syncing

  1. Enable syncing on your mobile device:

    1. Tap  →  → Enable syncing.

    2. Enter your username and password or select an account from the list.

      Note

      If you aren't registered on Yandex, you can't enable syncing, because the server stores data in Yandex ID. To register, tap Registration and fill out the account data.

    3. Tap Log in.

    To access the list of synced data, tap  →  → Syncing.

  2. Install Yandex Browser for desktop.

  3. Enable syncing and specify which data you want to sync.

  4. Import data from another browser.

    You can import data directly from the browsers specified in your Yandex Browser settings.

    Alert

    You will not be able to import data from Google Chrome if you’ve enabled data encryption in it.

    If your browser is not in the settings but can save data in an HTML file with bookmarks, transfer the data via this file. Before starting data import, save your data to an HTML file. See your browser’s help for how to do this.

    1. Click  → Settings.

    2. In the General settings section, go to the Syncing section and click Import data.

    3. Select one of the browsers or the HTML file with bookmarks.

    4. Specify which data you want to import:

      • History;
      • Bookmarks;
      • Passwords;
      • Search engines;
      • Recently opened tabs;
      • System settings.
    5. Click Import.

    After copying is complete, the data will sync and soon appear in Yandex Browser for Mobile.
