Tab groups

What are tab groups for?

With tab groups, you can easily organize your browser. You can create new groups, organize tabs into them, open cloud tab groups on different devices (if syncing is enabled), and move tabs between groups to make working with open tabs as convenient as possible.

Pinned groups are displayed above the SmartBox on the group panel. Color highlighting shows the group you are currently in:

• (if 7 tabs are open) — when window tabs are open on the tablet. Here you can see the tabs that are not placed in any group.
• Group name — when other tab groups have been created on the tablet.

Create tab group

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .

2. At the bottom of the window that opens, select Create tab group.

3. Enter the name of the new tab group.

4. To make the group available on all your devices where syncing is enabled and Yandex Browser is installed, leave the Upload to cloud option active.

   Note

   New groups are stored in the cloud by default. If you want the group to be available only on this device, disable the Cloud group option.

5. To always keep the group where you can see it, enable the Pin to panel option.

6. Tap Create.
   All sites will open in this group until you switch to another one.

If you do not want to store all your new groups in the cloud:  →  → Interface → Tabs and groups → Create new groups in the cloud. When creating a separate group, you can always enable its syncing.

Switch to another tab group

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .

   A list of all available groups and tabs will open:

   • at the top of the list — window tabs from your other devices;
   • below the separator — tab groups:
      – cloud groups from your synced devices;
      – local groups from this device. To store them in the cloud, tap .

   

2. Tap the desired group or Samsung (if you have a Samsung).

Actions with tab groups

Store a group in the cloud or remove it from the cloud

Main method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .

2. To the right of the group, tap the icon:
    — to store the group in the cloud. It will be available from any of your devices where Yandex Browser is installed and syncing is enabled.
    — to remove the group from the cloud. The group will remain only on your current device and will be deleted from all other devices.

3. Confirm your choice.

Additional method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .
2. In the window that opens at the , tap Change above the list of synced tab groups.
3. To the right of the group, tap  → Upload a group to cloud/Remove from cloud.
4. Confirm your choice.

Editing

Note

Samsung (if you have a Samsung) cannot be renamed.

Main method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .
2. Tap and hold the desired group until the context menu appears.
3. Select Edit.
4. Change the group name.
5. Tap Save.

Additional method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .
2. In the window that opens at the , tap Change above the list of synced tab groups.
3. To the right of the group, tap  → Edit.
4. Change the group name.
5. Tap Save.

Move a single tab

1. Open the tab you want to move.
2. To the right of the SmartBox, tap  → Move to group.
3. Select the tab group you want to move the tab to.
4. Click Import.

Move tabs to...

Main method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .
2. Tap and hold the desired group until the context menu appears.
3. Select Move tabs to...
4. Select the tab group you want to move the tabs to.
5. Click Import.

Additional method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .
2. In the window that opens at the , tap Change above the list of synced tab groups.
3. To the right of the group you want to move, tap  → Move tabs to...
4. Select the tab group you want to move the tabs to.
5. Click Import.

Close group tabs

Note

Action unavailable when there are no tabs in the group.

Main method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .
2. Tap and hold the desired group until the context menu appears.
3. Select Close group tabs. The group tabs will be closed, and the tab group will remain.

Additional method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .
2. In the window that opens at the , tap Change above the list of synced tab groups.
3. To the right of the group, tap  → Close group tabs. The group tabs will be closed, and the tab group will remain.

Delete group

Note

Samsung (if you have a Samsung) cannot be deleted.

Main method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .
2. Tap and hold the desired group until the context menu appears.
3. Select Delete group and confirm deletion.

Additional method

1. Above the SmartBox, tap .
2. In the window that opens at the , tap Change above the list of synced tab groups.
3. To the right of the group you want to delete, tap  → Delete group and confirm deletion.
