Yandex Browser appearance

You can switch to the dark theme and change the background on which the SmartBox and Tableau appear in new tabs.

Dark theme

By default, Yandex Browser elements (tabs, SmartBox, and so on) are displayed on a light background. If you prefer a dark mode:

  1. On the bottom panel, tap  → .

  2. Open Themes.

  3. Select Dark theme.

  4. If you want to change the background for a new tab screen:

    1. Tap Select dark background.

    2. Select a photo or animation.

    3. Tap Use this background.

To turn on the light theme in Yandex Browser, tap  →  → Themes and select the Light option.

To use the device's system theme in the browser, select Use system settings.

Darken background in dark theme

If you are using the dark theme, you can enable background dimming on a new tab:

  1. On the bottom panel, tap  → .

  2. In the Appearance section, enable the Darken background in dark theme option.

Dark theme for yandex.com

You can enable the dark theme for the Yandex Home page, search results, and services:

In the Home page settings

Under Appearance of Yandex services, select Dark.

Note

To select the theme, log in using Yandex ID.

In the search results

1. Scroll up the search results page.

2. In the top-right corner, tap your profile picture.

3. Tap Appearance → Always dark.

Yandex Browser background

You can use images as the background:

From the Background gallery

1. Tap  → .

2. Select a photo or animated image and tap Use this background.

Note

You can configure the browser to randomly alternate images or videos from your Background gallery every 24 hours.

  • For one album. Select the desired album in the Backgrounds gallery and tap Rotate backgrounds in this album.
  • For all albums. In Background gallery, tap Alternate backgrounds daily.
From your smartphone

1. Tap  → .

2. Tap Upload from phone.

3. Select a photograph in an album

Interface language

You can change the language of your Yandex Browser interface.

Note

The feature is available for devices running on iOS version 13.0 and higher. If you have an earlier version of iOS, you have to change the system language on the device.

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Yandex → Language.

  3. Select a language.

Alert

If the browser doesn't support the language you selected, the interface is in English.

FAQ

After changing the theme in Yandex Browser settings, the yandex.com theme did not change

The appearance of the Yandex Home page, search results, and services isn't linked to Yandex Browser. To make the yandex.com theme match the one in Yandex Browser, select the System settings option in the home page settings.

The yandex.com theme did not change

If the home page theme hasn't changed after you selected System settings for the home page appearance, you might have selected a light or dark theme in the browser settings.

Select System settings for Yandex Browser as well.

The background changed by itself
  1. On the bottom panel under the SmartBox, tap , then .
  2. Tap Backgrounds gallery → Disable background change.
