Import data from browsers

Yandex Browser can transfer bookmarks, browsing history and other settings from another browser installed on your computer.

Import settings automatically

When installing Yandex Browser, the voice assistant Alice offers to transfer data from the browser that was set as the default. The type of data that is imported depends on the operating system and browser it is imported from.

Note. Importing passwords from Internet Explorer is possible only in Windows 8, 10 and higher.

Disable automatic setting imports

During the browser installation

When you install Yandex Browser, a dialog with Alice opens where you can cancel automatically imported settings from the default browser:

  1. Make sure that your default browser is selected in the drop-down list.
  2. Click Skip.
  3. To confirm that you don't want to import these settings, click Restart now in the dialog with Alice.
If you closed the dialog with Alice
  1. Open the browser://activation/ page.
  2. Click Configure.
  3. In the drop-down list, choose the browser that your settings were automatically imported from.
  4. Click Skip.
  5. To confirm that you don't want to import your settings, click Continue in the Yandex Browser will restart window that opens.

Manually import settings

After you install Yandex Browser, you can import your settings manually. For example, you might want to import settings from a browser other than your default browser or only import some of your settings.

To import settings:

  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. In the Synching section, click Import data.
  3. In the window that opens, select the browser you want to import your data from.
  4. Select which data you want to transfer (tabs, bookmarks, passwords etc.).
  5. Click Import.
