# FAQ about managing files
## Viewing files {#view}

Check the operating system settings:

1. Go to **Start** → **Settings** → **Apps**.
1. In the **Default apps** section, click **Choose default apps by file type**.
1. Find the desired file type (for example, .pdf).
1. Click the app to the right of the file type.
1. In the window that opens, select the default app for this file type.
- Linux
1. Find a PDF file.
1. Right-click it to open the context menu.
1. Click **Open With Other Application**. The system automatically recognizes your choice and selects the latest application the next time you open the file.
- macOS
1. Go to Finder and find a PDF file.
1. Right-click it to open the context menu.
1. Click **Open with** → **Other**.
1. If Yandex Browser is set by default, select another application.
1. Select **Always open in the app**.
1. Save the changes.

## Download files {#download}

The browser blocks a file download if it contains a malicious program. To find out more, see [Blocking dangerous files](https://www.yandex.com/support/browser/en/security/file-checking.md#dangerous).
You can disable site and file safety checks:
1. In the upper-right corner, click **** → **Settings**.
1. Go to the **Security** tab at the top of the page.
1. In the **Protection from malicious files and websites** section, uncheck the box labeled **Run security checks on websites and downloaded files**.

Try to restart the download:
1. Click **** → **Downloads** or press **Ctrl** + **J**.
1. Select the file you need.
1. On the right, click **More** → **Resume download**.
If the download isn’t restarted, try downloading the file again:
1. Click **** → **Downloads** or press **Ctrl** + **J**.
1. Select the file you need.
1. On the right, click **More** → **Download again**.
The download may be affected by the antivirus installed on your computer. Try temporarily disabling it and download the file again.

1. Open **** → **Extensions** and turn off all extensions.
1. Download the files again.

You can disable downloaded file checks, but this would require you to disable protection from malicious sites and malware in Yandex Browser completely. We strongly recommend that you don’t do this.

If you want to disable file checks:
1. In the upper-right corner, click **** → **Settings**.
1. Go to **Security**.
1. In the **Protection from malicious files and websites** section, uncheck the box labeled **Run security checks on websites and downloaded files**.

The format of the downloaded image depends on the server. The server might generate a WebP format if it detected Yandex Browser as a program that recognizes WebP. In this case, Yandex Browser cannot affect the format selection.
Not all images are downloaded in WebP. For example, an image from Yandex Images will be saved in JPEG format.

1. Go to the Google Drive website. On the right side of the SmartBox, click .
1. Under **Trackers on this web page**, click **Site not working?**
1. In the window that opens, click **Allow third-party cookies**.

A notification that the download is complete appears if:
- The download takes more than 15 minutes.
- Multiple files are downloaded.
Check if notifications of completed downloads are enabled in Yandex Browser:
1. Click **** → **Settings** → **Tools**.
1. Under **Downloads**, enable **Notify me when a download is complete**.
