Exceptions for various page elements
What is an exception?
To protect your data, Yandex Browser applies various handling rules to website content (blocks pop-up windows, warns you when a website requests your location, and so on). If the browser rules interfere with how you use a website, you can set an exception for it. For example, you can use exceptions if you don't want the browser to warn you every time Yandex.Maps requests your location. Or you can enhance security on a specific website by not allowing the site to run JavaScript.
Content settings | Handling rules | |
---|---|---|
By default for all websites | Alternative rules for a specific website | |
Cookie files | Cookies can be saved. |
Images | All images are shown. |
JavaScript | JavaScript is allowed to run. |
Pop-up windows | They are blocked on all websites because they clutter the screen and are often used for banner advertisements. If the site tries to open pop-up windows, the SmartBox displays the ![]() |
Background sync | Device syncing occurs in the background. |
User location | When trying to determine your location, the browser will ask you to allow data transfer. |
Reminders (such as when you have meetings) | When you go to a website that sends notifications, the browser will ask you each time whether to show them. In Incognito mode, the browser blocks notifications from all websites. |
Full screen | If a website tries to toggle full screen, the browser will warn you about it. |
Mouse cursor | If a website (like an online game) tries to hide the mouse cursor, the browser will warn you. |
Camera | If a website (like a platform for video conferences) tries to access your camera or microphone, the browser will warn you. |
Microphone | If a website (like a platform for video conferences) tries to access your microphone, the browser will warn you. |
Access to plugins outside the test environment | The browser runs plugins inside a test environment. Sometimes a plugin needs access to a computer outside its scope, like for video streaming. In this case the browser will ask for your permission. |
Automatic downloads | The browser will warn you if the website tries to download a second file immediately after downloading the first file. |
Full control over MIDI devices | The browser will warn you if the website requests access to electronic musical instruments using the MIDI interface. |
