# Data exchange with server

Direct Commander interacts with the Yandex Direct server at your request only. Current data is not automatically downloaded to your computer from the server, and your changes are not automatically uploaded to the server.

We recommend the following workflow:

1. Each time you begin, [download](https://www.yandex.com/support/direct-commander-new/en/general/download.md) the current data from the Yandex Direct server first.
    
1. Make the necessary changes. They are automatically saved on your computer.
    
1. For changes to take effect, [upload](https://www.yandex.com/support/direct-commander-new/en/general/upload.md) them to the server.
