Configuring filters

To generate smart banners, you can use either the whole feed or individual products that you filtered for. On the ad group editing page, click +New filter and add up to 50 filters connected by the conjunction “OR”.

  1. Select your target audience
  2. Set the product selection rules
  3. Enter a CPC or CPA

Select your target audience

Select one of these options in the drop-down list:

  • Retargeting of website users: for users who visited your site. A Yandex Metrica tag must be installed on your website.

    If the user viewed specific products, they can be shown recommended products from the feed based on the selection rules, along with the products they viewed before.

    If the user visited your website (for example, the home page or product catalog) but didn't open any product pages, they can be shown personal product recommendations from the feed based on the selection rules.

  • Look-alike (showed interest in similar products): for users who searched for similar products online but didn't visit your site.

  • Maximum coverage (Retargeting + Look-alike): the default setting. Ads will be served for the users that visited your site and searched for similar products online.

You can use bid adjustments to raise or lower the CPC when you serve ads to particular users.

Set the product selection rules

The selection rules will determine which products from the feed will be used and which ones will be excluded when generating smart banners. You can select products by different parameters (for example, category, price, etc.). For correct selection in the feed, there must be a product with the specified parameter. The parameter value must match the filter.

These attributes depend on the business feed type.

Retail sales, other business: Yandex Market feed
For this type, attributes are displayed in a tree view or condition list:

You can use the feed tree to conveniently select products within the same category. Select a category or sub-category of products in the tree.

You can also specify a range of product prices and vendors, or only select products that are in stock.

The category tree is updated once a day during the repeat automatic validation of the feed.

Hotels: Google Ads “Hotels and rentals” feed

It is convenient to select hotels in the feed with the same parameters by using criteria. For instance, you can select hotels with a certain number of stars, or hotels in the same price range. The following feed parameters can be specified in criteria:

When you select the operators contains/does not contain the system will pick the pages where the sequence of characters can be found with the specified spelling (not case sensitive).

You can select all product offerings from a feed with the Select all button.

Automobiles: Auto.ru feed

You can use criteria to easily filter automobiles in the feed with the same parameters. For example, you can select automobiles of a certain make or year. The following feed parameters can be specified in criteria:

If multiple filters are used in an ad group, products from one filter can be added to products from another filter when generating smart banners.

Enter a CPC or CPA

If you selected the Maximum conversions or Maximum clicks strategy, you can set up a CPC or CPA in the filter settings. When Pay per conversion is enabled, CPA is optimized based on the cost per filter.
