What are product variants

Variants are several versions of the same product that differ by certain attributes — for example, color or size. Combine variants on a single card so that buyers can see all versions on one page and quickly switch between them.

Before combining variants:

• Ensure they share common attributes — category, brand, size chart and sizing grid for clothing, footwear, and accessories, and for some categories, also a size table — which categories these are;
• Fill in the distinguishing attributes — one or several;
• Ensure there are no errors in the cards and that the products have stock — they must be ready for publication.

How to combine product variants

In the card

1. Open the card, in the Specifications block select Combine variants → Multiple variants.

2. Set the Variant group name. It must be unique for this product category.

   If the group already exists — specify it.

3. Click Go to group. How to manage a variant group

4. Fill in and check the distinguishing attributes of the variants, then send the card for publication.

5. Before publication, Market will check if everything is correct: all mandatory fields are filled and there are no duplicate product variants. If there are errors, follow the recommendations — Market will leave them on the card page in the catalog. Edit the variant in the table, then publish again.

In the catalog

If a product is already in a group — next to it in the catalog, you will immediately see how many products are in it. Clicking on the label will take you to variant management. You can also open the card and view the variants directly through it — they will be listed in order at the top of the page.

You can also select any variant in the catalog and click the button, then:

• To go to the product group where the variant has already been added — select Manage variants;
• To move the product to another existing variant group or create a new one — select Add to variant group.

To combine several variants at once — select them in the catalog one by one and click Add to group.

Using Excel templates by category

1. Add one or more products to the catalog using any convenient method.
2. Download and open the template for the category to which the product belongs.
3. In the Variant group name field, specify the same number or combination of letters and numbers for each variant — unique within this product category. Ensure the products belong to the same category.
4. Upload the template in the section Products → Catalog → Upload products → Excel template → By categories.
5. Go to the variant group and check if everything was uploaded without errors. If there are errors — fix them directly in the table.

Selecting distinguishing attributes for variants

You can independently choose which characteristics the products will differ by. By default, Market determines the most suitable parameters for the category, but you can edit them. Where you can do this:

• In the product card: when creating a new one or editing an existing one, in specifications select Multiple variants → To settings.
• In the variants table: go to settings via the pencil icon.
• In the dashboard: open Products → Card management settings.

How to use the variants table

In the table, you can:

• Add new variants — create from scratch or select from existing ones, provided they belong to the same category.
• Remove irrelevant variants from the group — they will remain in the catalog.
• Copy a ready-made variant with all filled fields to edit it and create another variant. Click next to the desired variant, then Create copy.
• Edit variants — individually or in bulk. For example, specify one brand for all of them at once.
• Check for errors before publication — Market will suggest what needs to be fixed. For example, if you created two variants that do not differ from each other or did not fill in mandatory fields (SKU, title, etc.).

Questions and answers

How many products can be combined on one card

Up to 500 product variants. It is better not to have too many — so that the buyer can easily navigate the card and does not get confused.

What to do if combining is not possible

Check if the variants match in common characteristics — category, group name, brand. If products are from different categories — they cannot be combined.

Check if there are Market comments on the product page — about errors or failed publication. If there are — fix the errors and try combining the products again.

What to do if combined successfully, but products are not on the showcase

Check if the product has stock and if there are no other errors in the card unrelated to combining variants. If there are — fix the errors and try publishing the product again.
