# Dictionary and spelling correction

Yandex Keyboard can remember the words you type most often, suggest word choices as you type, and correct typos.

To set up auto-correction:

1. Tap and hold the ![](_images/icon-globe.png =17x20) icon next to the space bar and select ![](_images/android-setting.svg).

1. Go to **Text Input**, **Top panel**, **Personalization**.

1. Tap and hold the ![](_images/icon-globe.png =17x20) icon next to the space bar and select ![](_images/android-setting.svg).


To offer better suggestions, Yandex Keyboard collects input data anonymously and in encrypted form. Yandex only uses data for picking suggestions. You can disable the option:

1. Tap and hold the ![](_images/icon-globe.png =17x20) icon next to the space bar and select ![](_images/android-setting.svg).

1. Go to **Personalization**.

1. Disable the **Make Yandex Keyboard better** option.


## Add words to the dictionary {#add-word}

If you use slang or other non-standard words, Yandex Keyboard may consider them typos and suggest corrections. Add this vocabulary to the dictionary, and Yandex Keyboard will include your words in suggestions along with other words.

#### Automatically

Type a new word once and submit. The word will be added to your personal dictionary and will start appearing in the suggestions after a while.

#### Manually

1. Tap and hold the ![](_images/icon-globe.png =17x20) icon next to the space bar and select ![](_images/android-setting.svg).

1. Go to **Personalization** → **Edit system dictionary**.

1. Select the dictionary. The dictionary is language specific: for example, if you add a word to the Russian dictionary, it will only appear in the suggestions when you're using the Russian-language layout.

1. Tap the ![](_images/android-dictionary-plus.svg) button below.

1. Enter the word and go back to the previous screen.

If you've added an offensive word to the dictionary, and Yandex Keyboard still doesn't recognize it, that means that you have enabled blocking offensive language.

To disable this option:

1. Tap and hold the ![](_images/icon-globe.png =17x20) icon next to the space bar and select ![](_images/android-setting.svg).

1. Go to **Personalization**.

1. Disable **Block offensive words**.
