# Getting started

## Step 1. Download Yandex Keyboard {#install}



You can download the app from official app stores:

## Step 2. Enable and allow access {#access}

1. Launch Yandex Keyboard.


1. In the setup wizard, tap **Enable** and select Yandex Keyboard as the main keyboard for text input.

   While configuring app permissions, you'll see a standard notification about the collection of personal data (passwords, credit card numbers). Yandex doesn't collect input data by default. But you can enable the anonymous and encrypted collection of input statistics so that Yandex Keyboard can provide you with better [suggestions](https://www.yandex.com/support/keyboard-android/en/dictionary.md).

1. Allow Yandex Keyboard to send extended activity and crash reports:

   - If you agree to send data about activities and failures to Yandex, tap **Next**.
      
   - If you don't agree to send data about activities and failures to Yandex, disable the **Send extended reports** option and tap **Next**.
      


## Step 3. Customize the keyboard {#setup}

Tap and hold the ![](_images/icon-globe.png =17x20) icon next to the space bar and select ![](_images/android-setting.svg).


Go to **Themes** and choose the theme you like or create a new one by tapping **Create theme**.

You can customize the keyboard appearance, key display, switching between languages, auto-correct options, and other parameters in **Appearance**, **Keys**, and **Text input**.
