# Translate text

If you're chatting with friends from other countries but don't know their language well enough, use the built-in translator.

1. Tap the ![](_images/ya.svg) icon in the upper-left corner of Yandex Keyboard on the suggestions bar.

1. Switch to the translator tab by tapping the ![](_images/translate-icon.svg) icon.

1. Select the language you want to translate the text into.

1. Enter the text in the translator field or use [voice input](https://www.yandex.com/support/keyboard-android/en/voice-input.md). The text will be automatically translated, and the translation will appear in your message.

2. To close the translator, tap ![](_images/android-close-translate.svg) next to the translator field or ![](_images/android-button-close-translate.png =20x) in the bottom-right corner of Yandex Keyboard.

If you don't see the ![](_images/ya.svg) icon in the Yandex Keyboard suggestions bar:

1. Tap and hold the ![](_images/icon-globe.png =17x20) icon next to the space bar and select ![](_images/android-setting.svg).
    
1. Go to **Top bar**.
    
1. Enable the **Additional functions** option.
