Device requirements

Yandex Maps is available on smartphones and tablets with iOS 16+ or Android 8+.

You can't update the app on devices running older versions of these operating systems. If you delete the app from such a device, you won't be able to download and install it again. In this case, use the service's web version in a browser.

Download the app

You can download Yandex Maps from Google Play or the App Store.

Check the app version

  1. Tap  (profile picture). If you haven't signed in, tap .

  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Open About.

Update the app

If the auto-update option is enabled for Yandex Maps on your device, the app will update without your intervention.

If that option is disabled, the device's operating system will prompt you to update the app as soon as its new version becomes available.

You can also update Yandex Maps manually:

  1. Open the Google Play app.
  2. In the upper-right corner, tap your profile picture.
  3. Open Manage apps & device.
  4. Under Updates available, tap See details.
  5. Scroll to Yandex Maps and tap Update.

Alternatively, you can go to the Yandex Maps page in Google Play and tap Update.

Note

If you already have the latest version of Yandex Maps, the Update button changes to Open.

  1. On your mobile device, open the App Store app.
  2. In the upper-right corner, tap your profile picture → Apps.
  3. Scroll to Yandex Maps and tap Update.

Alternatively, you can go to the Yandex Maps page in the App Store and tap Update.

Note

If you already have the latest version of Yandex Maps, the Update button changes to Open.

Delete the app

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Play app.
  2. In the upper-right corner, tap your profile picture.
  3. Select Manage apps & deviceManage.
  4. Select Yandex Maps, then tap in the upper-right corner.
  5. Tap Uninstall.
  1. On the device home screen, tap and hold the Yandex Maps icon.
  2. Tap Remove App → Delete App.

If you were logged in, your saved places and settings won't disappear after deleting the app. To use them again, reinstall the app and log in to the same account.

If you delete the app while you're not logged in, you'll lose your bookmarks and general settings.

All downloaded maps will also be deleted along with the app. You can download them again after reinstalling the app.

FAQ

The app won't open or keeps crashing when I'm trying to use it
  1. Update to the latest version of the app.
  2. If you're using an Android device, make sure it has enough RAM. If it's running low on RAM, close other apps.

I can't install or update the app

Check that your device meets hardware requirements for the app to run.

Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection
  • Make sure you have a strong, stable network connection.
  • Switch to Wi-Fi if possible.
Check how much storage space you have available

Apps may fail to download or install when your device has less than 1 GB of free storage.

To check your available storage, navigate to Settings → Storage.

If your storage is nearly full, free up space by deleting files you no longer need.

Check for Android updates

To check for updates, navigate to Settings → System → Software update → System update. Download and install any available updates.

Check your date and time settings

Confirm that your device shows the correct date and time. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Select Settings → System → Date & time.
  2. Make sure automatic time and time zone detection are both turned on. If either setting is disabled, turn it on.
  3. Wait a few minutes, then try installing the app again.

Once you've addressed these potential issues, restart your device and attempt the installation again.

Check your storage status by tapping Settings → General → iPhone Storage.

If your storage is nearly full, free up space by deleting files you no longer need.

If you've tried all these steps but still can't install or update the app, reach out to support for help.

The app is pre-installed on the device, and I can't remove it

Some manufacturers ship their devices with Yandex Maps already pre-installed on them. While pre-installed apps can't be deleted completely, you can disable them. Once disabled, these apps won't run, update, or access your data.
