Permissions

During installation, «Yandex» app will ask you for some permissions and access rights that are necessary for the app to function properly. You can grant the optional permissions later.

Which permissions are required?

Location

Required for search suggestions and push notifications based on user location.

Phone access

Required for caller ID to work.

Contact access

Required for caller ID.

Required for displaying information on the device screen when someone calls (when caller ID is activated).

Access to microphone

Required for voice search.

Access the camera

Required for searching by image and the QR code scanner.

File access

Required for Smart camera modes (for example, Translate, Search, and Products).

Internet access

Required for internet search, Caller ID, as well as updating widgets.

Notifications

Required for getting information messages and warnings from Yandex services.

Location

How to grant a permission after installation?

If you didn't grant access rights and permissions when installing «Yandex» app, you can always do that later:

Location

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Apps → Yandex.

  3. Tap Permissions → Location.
  4. Select Allow.
Phone access

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Apps → Yandex.

  3. Tap Permissions → Phone.
  4. Select Allow.
Access to contacts

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Apps → Yandex.

  3. Tap Permissions → Contacts.
  4. Select Allow.
Popup windows

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Apps → Yandex.

  3. Tap Display over other apps → Permission.
Microphone access

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Apps → Yandex.

  3. Tap Permissions → Microphone.
  4. Select Allow only while using the app.
Camera access

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Apps → Yandex.

  3. Tap Permissions → Camera.
  4. Select Allow only while using the app.
File access

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Apps → Yandex.

  3. Tap Permissions → Storage.
  4. Select Allow access to media only.
Internet access

  • Mobile operator

    1. Open your device settings.

    2. Tap Connections → SIM card manager.
    3. If your device has multiple SIM cards, select one that you'll use for mobile data exchange.
    4. Enable Mobile data.

  • Wi-Fi network

    1. Open your device settings.

    2. Enable Wi-Fi and connect to a Wi-Fi network in the list. You may need a password.
Notifications

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Apps → Yandex → Notifications.
  3. Tap Allow notifications.
Location

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Yandex → Location.
  3. Make sure the option While using the app is enabled.
Microphone access

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Select Privacy → Microphone.
  3. Enable the option for Yandex.
Camera access

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Select Yandex.
  3. Enable the Camera option.
Access to contacts

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Select Privacy & security → Contacts.
  3. Enable the option for Yandex.
Notifications

  1. Open your device settings.

  2. Tap Yandex → Notifications.
  3. Enable Allow notifications.
