# 4.1.5. Add attributes to transport items

## 4.1.5.1. Railways {#4.1.5.1}

The general rules for drawing railway lines are described in [3.12.2. Rules for adding attributes to railway items](https://www.yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/cat_railway_rul2.md#cat_railway_rul2).

**4.1.5.1.1** {#4.1.5.1.1}

: Names of railway stations in Russia are taken from open sources with the priority of the [Tariff manual #4 of the Ministry of Railways](https://sovetgt.org/tr4/).

    {% note alert %}

    On the YME, don't draw fictional stations that ensure the validity of technical documentation and have the type of <q>Export</q>, <q>Transshipment</q>, <q>Unloading</q>, and so on in their records.

    {% endnote %}

    Additionally:

    - If the official names differs from the name that is used in reality (i.e. in commercial schedules, itineraries, signage, etc.), then enter the name that is <q>actually used</q> for the **official** name and enter the official name in the item card under the <q>also known as, historical</q> type.

    - If the map item doesn't have an official name (in TP-4), then enter the **name that is actually used** in the official field.

    - Write official names of railway stations that end in numbers (_Perm-2, Povarovo-3_) using Arabic numerals; enter any alternate names that include Roman numerals in the item card using the <q>also known as, historical</q> field.

**4.1.5.1.2** {#4.1.5.1.2}

: It is **prohibited** to draw railway stations located on the territory of military bases and closed cities overseen by Rosatom and the Ministry of Defense (see Section [3.1.4. Prohibited objects](https://www.yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/rules_1_4.md#rules_1_4)).

**4.1.5.1.3** {#4.1.5.1.3}

: The general rules for classifying railway stations are described in Section [3.12.2.2.2. Type](https://www.yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/cat_railway_rul2.md#3.12.2.2.2).

:   Draw defunct stations as <q>[Non-passenger stations](https://www.yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/cat_railway_rul2.md#3.12.2.2.2)</q>.

    If stations that are closed or have been excluded from [the Ministry of Railways Tariff manual #4](https://sovetgt.org/tr4/) or the lists of Russian railway stations have been **demolished** (meaning that rails were removed, tracks were dismantled, or passenger [platforms](cat_railway_rul2.md#platf) were destroyed), then **do not draw** these stations and **delete** any previously drawn ones from the map.

**4.1.5.1.4. Naming railway stations** {#4.1.5.1.4}

: The general rules for naming railway stations are given in Section [3.12.2.2.3. Name](https://www.yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/cat_railway_rul2.md#3.12.2.2.3).

    Use the **Type + Proper** name format for railway stations (sidings, platforms, stops, block posts, and station parks).

    Enter cardinal numbers for station names rather than ordinal. For example: _100 km_, not _100th km_.

    For example: _Losinoostrovskaya Station_, _Moskva-Passazhirskaya-Yaroslavskaya Station_, _Beloozerskaya Platform_, _100 km Stop_, _Yuzhny Block Post_, _Perovo Park A Station_.

    Use uppercase and lowercase letters in names as follows:

    - For railway stations: Capitalize all words in the proper name. Don't capitalize the type of toponym.
    - For platforms and railway stops: Capitalize the first word in the proper name. Don't capitalize the item type or other words (except for proper names included in the name).

    {% note alert %}

    For common and frequent terms that form part of the station's proper name,
 as well as the names of the
 <q>For caption on map</q> type, you **must** use the following abbreviations:
    - Passazhirskaya — <q>Pass.</q>
    - Sortirovochnaya — <q>Sort.</q>
    - Tovarnaya — <q>Tov.</q>

    {% endnote %}

## 4.1.5.2. Rapid transit {#4.1.5.2}

The general rules for drawing and adding attributes to rapid transport items are described in Section [3.13. Transport: rapid](https://www.yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/cat_speed.md#cat_speed).

**4.1.5.2.1**

: Metro lines on Yandex Map Editor **can not be edited**.

## 4.1.5.3. Aviation transport {#4.1.5.3}

The general rules for adding attributes to air transport items are described in Section [3.15. Transport: air](https://www.yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/cat_air.md#cat_air).

You can determine the type of air transport by referring to the [State Register of Civil Airfields of the Russian Federation](http://www.favt.ru/dejatelnost-ajeroporty-i-ajerodromy-reestr-grajdanskih-ajerodromov-rf/).

**4.1.5.3.1**

: All official airport names should have the <q>airport</q> item type whether the flights conducted there are international or domestic. For example: write _Vnukovo airport_, not _Vnukovo international airport_.

## 4.1.5.4. Water transport {#4.1.5.4}

**4.1.5.4.1** {#4.1.5.4.1}

: The official name of a water transport station must include the object type,
 written with a lowercase (small) letter.

: For example: _the dock of the Kiev railway station, a Marina, Troitse-Lykovo_.
