# The map can't detect my location

If you allow the service to detect [your location](https://yandex.com/support/common/yandex-settings/region-settings.html), it will use this data to [create routes](https://www.yandex.com/support/maps/en/concept/rout.md), show [traffic conditions](https://www.yandex.com/support/maps/en/concept/stoppers.md), and [search](https://www.yandex.com/support/maps/en/concept/object-search.md) for places on the map.

You don't have to allow access to your location.

To enable the option:

1. Click ![](../_assets/btn_place.png).
    
1. A request window will open at the top of the page. Click **Allow**.
    
1. Your location will be shown by the ![](../_assets/pl_02.png) placemark. Click on the placemark to see your exact address and coordinates.
