# Reports API

The Reports API provides aggregated information about site session statistics and other data that correspond to the data in reports without using the Yandex Metrica interface.

When making a request to the API, use the following:

- Dimensions: An attribute of a session or hit by which data can be grouped.
- Metrics: A numerical value calculated based on the attribute of a hit or session.

The API supports two types of dimensions and metrics: sessions and hits.

The metrics and dimensions specified in the API request let you create the necessary report structure, for example, by page depth, with data grouped by type and operating system version.

The API returns responses in UTF-8 encoding. Responses are in JSON or CSV format.
