Find my location

When you launch Yandex Navigator for the first time, the app asks for permission to access your location. It's required to display accurate recommendations, routes, and information about nearby places.

Current location

Your location is determined automatically if location detection is enabled in your device settings. You can use the map to:

See where you are

Your location on the map is marked with . You can change your cursor's appearance.

Determine your location

To determine your location, tap . The cursor will get to the center of the map.

Rotate the map to match your direction

For easier navigation, you can rotate the map to match your direction. To do this, tap . A compass will replace the button, and the cursor will be at the bottom of the screen.

Navigate using the compass
The button is displayed when you rotate the screen or follow a route. The red arrow on the compass points to the north. To keep north always up, tap the button.
If the map's orientation matches your direction
Tapping displays , and the cursor gets to the center of the map.

If your location can't be determined, the button appears.

Share your coordinates

To share the point coordinates on the map:

  1. Tap and hold the point.
  2. Select See what's here.
  3. Share the coordinates using one of the following methods:

    • Tap and select the service or messenger where you want to share a link to the coordinates of the map point.
    • Tap the value in the Coordinates field and send the copied coordinates using your preferred service or messenger.

My location can't be determined

If Yandex Navigator can't determine your location, do the following:

Enable location services on your device
  1. In the device settings, go to Location.
  2. Enable Location access.
Increase the frequency of location signals
To ensure stable navigation and increase the frequency of location signals:
  • Update to the latest version of Yandex Navigator.
  • Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your device.
Disable Wi-Fi scan throttling
Restriction. This setting is available for devices running Android version 10 and higher, except for Huawei and Honor devices.

To disable Wi-Fi scan throttling, activate Developer mode:

  1. In the device settings, go to About phone.
  2. Tap on MIUI version seven times.
  3. Go back to settings and open System.
  4. Select Developer options and disable Wi-Fi scan throttling.
Allow the app to get your location data
Yandex Navigator can't work correctly if it doesn't receive geolocation information. Allow access to this data in your device settings.
Make sure you a GPS signal is available
Hold your device under the windshield of your car. Barriers like a car's roof, thick foliage, or multi-story buildings will reduce the quality of the GPS signal and can block it completely.
Troubleshoot device issues

Sometimes, device issues may hinder accurate geolocation. Try the following:

  • Close Yandex Navigator. It's not enough to minimize the app by tapping Back or Home. You need to open the view that shows you all the running apps and swipe the Navigator window.
  • Disable and re-enable Wi-Fi.
  • Turn on “Airplane mode” for 15–20 seconds, then turn it off.
  • Restart your smartphone or tablet.
