# Temperature map

## What is a temperature map {#find}

[Temperature map](https://yandex.com/weather/maps/temperature) shows the current temperature around the world, as well as data for the previous and next 36 hours. The warmest regions are shown in red, and the coldest ones are shown in dark blue.

The temperature map is made using the [Meteum](https://www.yandex.com/support/weather/en/faq.md#meteum) technology.

Map data is updated every three hours.

## How to use the map {#work}

There are two ways to view the temperature map:

- In the **Weather map** section of the [service homepage](https://yandex.com/weather/), click **![](_assets/temperature-icon.svg) Temperature**.
    
- Click **Weather map** at the top of any page. Click **![](_assets/temperature-icon.svg) Temperature** in the top left corner of the map.

On the temperature map, you can find:

- The near-future forecast for the whole world: move the slider on the time scale at the bottom of the page or select the time.
- The exact temperature for a specific location: mouse over it.
- A summary forecast for a specific point. Click on it: a card will open with the weather data for the selected location.
- The wind direction: in the bottom left corner, enable the **Animated wind** option. For more information about this option, see [Wind map](https://www.yandex.com/support/weather/en/wind-map.md).

To switch to a different weather map, select it in the top left corner of the map.

To open the temperature map:

1. On the homepage, tap the map.
    
1. On the right of the map, tap **![](_assets/choose-map.png)** → **![](_assets/temperature-icon.svg) Temperature**.

On the temperature map, you can find:
- The forecast for the near future: move the slider on the time scale at the bottom of the page or select the time.
- The exact temperature for a specific location. To do this, tap the location on the map.
- The wind direction: in the bottom left corner, enable the **Animated wind** option. For more information about this option, see [Wind map](https://www.yandex.com/support/weather/en/wind-map.md).

To switch to a different weather map, tap ![](_assets/choose-map.png) on the right side of the map.
