Mobile access for smartphones and tablets

On mobile devices, you can use Yandex Mail via the mobile app, the mobile website version, or an email client. Choose your platform:

Using the Mobile Yandex Mail app, you can check Yandex Mail and read your emails if your device is connected to the Internet.

Note

If you have two-factor authentication enabled, use a one-time password generated by the Yandex Key app to log in.

Alert

If you have a QIP, NGS, or E1 mailbox, use this for authentication in the app: a special instruction.

To access the mobile version of the Yandex Mail website, enter mail.yandex.com or mail.yandex.com/touch in your browser's address bar.

Alert

The mobile web interface is available on smartphones and tablets running on Android 4.4 and higher. If your device runs an earlier version of Android, go to the corresponding Help section.

You can use Yandex Mail via the pre-installed email client.

  1. Go to Email clients in the Yandex Mail settings.
  2. Make sure you've enabled the options Use a mail client to retrieve your Yandex mailFrom the imap.yandex.com server via IMAP and App passwords and OAuth tokens.
  3. Save your changes.

Note

If you want the emails to be kept for some time after they are deleted in the mail client, select Don't automatically delete emails marked as deleted in IMAP. Please note that they will be permanently deleted from the mailbox immediately after restarting the mail client.

Create an app password:

  1. In your Yandex ID account, open the App passwords page.
  2. Select the application type Mail.
  3. Enter a password name. For example, you can use the name of the app you're creating the password for. The password will appear in the list under this name.
  4. Tap Next. The app password will be displayed in a pop-up window.

Limitation

You can only see the created password once. If you entered it incorrectly and closed the window, delete the current password and create a new one.

Then configure the app:

  1. Enter your email address and password that you enabled in Yandex Mail settings, then tap Next.

  2. Set the account type to IMAP.

  3. Enter the following information:

    • Server: imap.yandex.com (or imap.ya.ru if you're not in Russia).
    • Port: 993.
    • Security type: SSL/TLS.

    Tap Next.

  4. Enter the following information:

    • SMTP server: smtp.yandex.com.
    • Port: 465.
    • Security type: SSL/TLS.

    Select Log in to the system, enter your username and password that you enabled in the Yandex Mail settings, then tap Next.

  5. Specify how frequently you want to check your Inbox folder and check the appropriate options. Tap Next.

  6. Specify the account name and your name for outgoing messages. Tap Next.

You can use Yandex Mail via a different email client.

  1. Go to Email clients in the Yandex Mail settings.
  2. Make sure you've enabled the options Use a mail client to retrieve your Yandex mailFrom the imap.yandex.com server via IMAP and App passwords and OAuth tokens.
  3. Save your changes.

Note

If you want the emails to be kept for some time after they are deleted in the mail client, select Don't automatically delete emails marked as deleted in IMAP. Please note that they will be permanently deleted from the mailbox immediately after restarting the mail client.

Create an app password:

  1. In your Yandex ID account, open the App passwords page.
  2. Select the application type Mail.
  3. Enter a password name. For example, you can use the name of the app you're creating the password for. The password will appear in the list under this name.
  4. Tap Next. The app password will be displayed in a pop-up window.

You can only see the created password once. If you entered it incorrectly and closed the window, delete the current password and create a new one.

Then configure the app:

  1. Specify technical details:

    Incoming mail

    • Mail server address: imap.yandex.com (or imap.ya.ru if you're not in Russia).

    • Connection security: SSL.

    • Port: 993.

    Outgoing mail

    • Mail server address: smtp.yandex.com.

    • Connection security: SSL.

    • Port: 465. If the email client initiates a connection without encryption, port 587 is used.

  2. Enter your Yandex username and password that you enabled in Yandex Mail settings.

AquaMail

AquaMail supports OAuth protocol for secure connection to mail. User data isn't stored on the application server or mobile device, which makes it harder for hackers to gain access to it.

You can block the application's access to your mail at any time (for example, if you lose your phone).

Creating an account in AquaMail

1. Open the application and click Add an account.
If you already have an AquaMail account and want to add another one, open the application menu and click Add a new account.

2. Select Yandex and click Go.
3. Log in to the mail with your login and password.
4. Allow the application access to your Yandex details.

Note

Access to your details is required for emails to be handled correctly. The app will need your consent to perform any actions with the messages.

5. Specify your name for outgoing messages and the account name, select automatic uploading and notification options.
6. Click Save.

Enabling a new protocol for an existing account

If you already have an AquaMail account, you can enable the OAuth protocol for it:

1. Click and hold the line with the account you need.

Note

To go to the account list from any folder, tap Accounts.

2. Select General settings in the menu that opens.
3. Click The enhanced security standard can be enabled for this account in the top part of the screen, and log in again to the mailbox with your username and password.

Denying application access to your email

1. Follow this link on your computer: passport.yandex.com/profile/access.
2. Select AquaMail in Programs that have access to the account.
3. Tap Delete.

To continue working with emails via AquaMail, open the application, log in to the mail and allow Yandex access to your details again.

  2. Go to Passwords and accounts.

  3. Tap New account.

  4. Select Interface.

  5. Under Mail, tap New account.

  6. Enter the account data:

    • Name: Your name for outgoing messages.
    • Email: Your Yandex email address.
    • Password: The app password you created for Yandex Mail.
    • Description: The name of the account.
  7. Tap Next.

  8. Turn on Mail. Tap Save.

You can use Yandex Mail via a different email client.

  2. Tap add service.

  3. Tap advanced.

    Note that if you accidentally click another account instead of advanced, your email client will not be configured properly.

  4. Set the account type to Internet mail:.

  5. Enter your email address and the password that you enabled in Yandex Mail settings. Tap Next.

  6. Enter the following information:

    • Your name (for outgoing messages).
    • Incoming email server: imap.yandex.com:993.
    • Account type: IMAP4.
    • Your username.
    • Password: The app password you created for Yandex Mail.
    • Outgoing email server: smtp.yandex.com:465.

    Click advanced settings and enable the following options:

    • Outgoing mail server requires user authentication.
    • Use the same username and password for sending mail.
    • Incoming mail requires SSL.
    • Outgoing mail requires SSL.

    Click Log in.

Choose section:

  1. Go to Email clients in the Yandex Mail settings.

  1. Go to MessagingOptionsSettingsEmail.

  2. Select MailboxesNew mailbox.

  3. Enter the following information:

    • Mailbox type: IMAP.
    • My email address: Address of your mailbox.
    • Incoming mail server: imap.yandex.com (or imap.ya.ru if you're not in Russia).
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.yandex.com.
    • Current hotspot: The hotspot for the mobile Internet connection.
    • Mailbox name: Your name displayed in the outgoing messages.
  4. Return to the Messages menu and select your mailbox.

  5. Tap OptionsEmail parameters.

  6. In the incoming and outgoing mail settings, in Connection parameters, specify your Yandex username and password that you enabled in Yandex Mail settings.

Choose section:
