Requirements for placing ad units on sites
Alert
This section describes the technical requirements that partners must meet when placing ad units on sites.
General requirements
-
Ad units of other contextual advertising platforms must be visibly distinguishable from Yandex ad units.
-
It is prohibited to change the page display mode for prioritized ad impressions.
-
It is prohibited to hide links, images, advertiser site favicon, regional indicators, warnings (such as age or medical warnings), or any other element of the ad unit or cover them with outside elements. This restriction doesn't apply to cases where the element can be disabled in the Yandex Advertising Network partner interface.
Example of incorrect ad placement in the desktop version
The custom “Close” button and ad label overlap the contents of the ad units:

Ad tag requirements
-
The ad tag for serving ads from other platforms must not interfere with the ad tag for calling Yandex Direct ads or the RTB ad unit and must not affect the displayed ads in any way.

-
It is prohibited to place the Yandex Advertising Network ad unit tag (both for ad units directly from Yandex Advertising Network and those integrated from Adfox):
- Inside the code of other banner platforms (such as Ad Manager or AdRiver).
- Using other JS code, callback or postMessage functions, code substitution, and so on.
-
Recursively calling the RTB ad unit tag is prohibited.
Requirements for ad units that overlap the page content (overlays)
-
In the desktop version of the resource, you can place overlays that are fixed only to the bottom edge of the screen (Floor Ad units) and have a “Close” button outside the ad creative.
Example of incorrect ad placement
The overlay isn't positioned at the bottom of the page and overlaps the page content:
-
Overlays placed in the mobile version of the resource must meet the following conditions:
-
Overlays can only be placed on devices with a screen width of 320 to 420 px.
-
The “Close” button must be positioned outside the creative and must be easily accessible and visually distinguishable from the page content.
Example of incorrect ad placement
The “Close” button is missing:
-
Overlay height (with the “Close” button):
- For Floor Ad units: Must not exceed 30% of the device's screen size.
- For Top Ad units: Must not exceed 120 px.

It is prohibited to place Top Ad and Floor Ad overlays simultaneously in the mobile version.
Example of simultaneous placement of Floor Ad and Top Ad units
-
-
Fullscreenl SD ad units must meet the following conditions:
-
It is prohibited to place Fullscreen SD ad units within Fullscreen and Rewarded ad units.
-
In the desktop version of the resource, it's only allowed to place Fullscreen SD units when opening a new page.
-
It is prohibited to place Fullscreen SD ad units with outside design or control elements.
Example of incorrect ad placement
Using a custom design for an Interstitial ad unit:
-
It's only allowed to place Rewarded ad units when the user opens them by clicking a button or performing some other action on the resource.
The button text and call to action must be unambiguous. The user must clearly understand that the action will open an ad unit and that they'll receive a reward for viewing the ad.
The user's reward can't be real money, digital currency, or other form of monetary incentive.
-
-
It is prohibited to place ad formats that appear in a separate browser window (such as Pop-up and Pop-under ads).
-
It's allowed to place RTB ad units in players with non-video content — that is, content generated from images, text, looped clips, or stock videos.
-
You may place ad units that move with the content as the user scrolls the page, provided that they don't overlap the page content.
-
Ads shouldn't dominate the page content.
Example of ads dominating the page content
An exception are Feed ad units. The following requirements apply for Feed units:
-
A Feed can't be placed on the first screen of a site page. The ad unit must be placed after the main content of the site, specifically on the last or second-to-last screen of the site page.
-
It is prohibited to simultaneously display a Feed and an overlay on the same screen.
To learn more about placing overlays simultaneously with a Feed, see Ad unit tag features.
