Business rating

Visitors to your company leave reviews and give scores on Yandex Maps and in Search. The maximum score is 5 points. When a new organization is added to Yandex Business, it has no rating yet. It should get 3 to 5 user scores to be rated.

The rating in Yandex Maps, Yandex Search, and Yandex Business is compiled separately from other Yandex services.

Each score has its own value that depends on the user and their activity. We take into account two factors:

• Influence: How the user rated companies before. If they've already written reviews, always given a score of 5, and gave a new business a score of “4”, the algorithms understand that upsetting them is quite the challenge. Their score will impact the business rating more than if they had given it a five.
• Reliability: Whether the user has given scores before as well as how many. If they have given scores to multiple businesses, their score has more value. If the user is leaving a review for the first time, their score has less value.

Sometimes we ask users to compare two similar businesses they've visited. Those comparisons are also taken into account when calculating the rating.

We need to take various factors into account to achieve statistical reliability, which enables users to compare companies more objectively (including comparing new organizations and companies that already have a large number of reviews and a strong reputation in the market).

As the company receives a lot of positive reviews and high scores, the rating will gradually increase, becoming more accurate and reflecting the real quality of services and customer satisfaction. This way, the rating helps users compare companies in equal conditions even if some of them have more and others fewer reviews.

On the right side of the Search results page.

In the company card in Yandex search results, you can see the color indication of the rating. The colors vary from dimmer shades to bright green: the brighter the color, the higher the rating.

The business owner can see the current business rating and the number of new reviews in their Yandex Business account. To check them out, open About the business → Reviews → Visitors rated.

The badge shows the business's rating in real time. Clicking the badge redirects the user to your company profile, where they can give a score or leave a review.

To add a rating widget to your website:

1. Get the code. In the About the business → Promotional materials section, go to the Badge block and click Copy code.

How rating is displayed in the account

The current rating and the number of new reviews are displayed in the Yandex Business account. Reviews are grouped by parameters that are specific for your field, such as Food or Staff for restaurants. This helps you understand what your customers like and what they don't like.

The company had a rating that was displayed in the card, but now it's gone

Ratings are hidden when:

• The company moves. A new rating will be built.
• The business belongs to a category where the rating isn't important when choosing a company. For example, parking lots, public transport stops, and other social facilities. But that doesn't mean users can't still leave reviews.

• The company card was published just recently. It could take several days to fully update the information, so you might need to wait a little longer.

If the rating should already be displayed for your company, please contact support.

There are no new scores, but the rating dropped

When calculating the rating, the influence of each review is taken into account. It could be that the reliability of the users who left reviews for your company decreased, which would explain the dip.

How to encourage customers to post reviews in Yandex Maps and Yandex Search

Ask your customers to share their impressions immediately after a purchase or visit. And follow the recommendations:

• Simplify the process: provide a link or QR code so that customers don't have to search for your company manually.
• Ask questions: prepare a template with neutral wording to make it easier for customers to get started.
• Gently remind customers after 1–3 days that they can post a review.
• Use promotional materials: download layouts of business cards and QR codes in the Yandex Business account. Print out promotional materials and place them where customers can notice and scan them.

My business gets good scores, but our rating isn't increasing

The higher the rating, the more difficult it is to increase it. Once multiple good scores are left, your rating might increase.

A negative review was deleted, but the rating hasn't changed

All ratings are recalculated every day, but it takes some time to fully update them in the services.

If the value of the review was low, for example, because that was the only review that user had ever left, the rating may only change slightly. Once multiple good scores are left, your rating might increase.

How to delete a rating

If you don't match the conditions for automatically hiding a rating (see "The company had a rating that was displayed in the card, but now it's gone"), you can't remove it. Follow our recommendations to improve your rating.
